Many complexes have controlled entrances where the driver may need to be buzzed in, and pin numbers are common. If you're renting through an agency, ask whether check-in is on-site or at an office in Cancelada or San Pedro. There's little walkable shopping inside the residential streets, so plan a stop; the Diana commercial centre and supermarkets near San Pedro or the El Paraíso area are the practical options for arrival-day groceries. For golfers, confirm which course your tee time is at, as Atalaya, El Paraíso and Guadalmina are separate clubs a few minutes apart and easily confused.
