Arroyo de la Miel is the busy commercial and residential centre of Benalmádena, sitting slightly inland from Benalmádena Costa and below the hillside village of Benalmádena Pueblo. It is where locals live year-round, with the town's Cercanías C1 station, everyday shops and the pedestrian streets around Plaza de España. Families come for Parque de la Paloma, a large park with free-roaming rabbits, peacocks and ducks, and for Selwo Marina. The Teleférico base station here runs the cable car up Monte Calamorro. Because it is a real town rather than a resort strip, prices in bars and supermarkets tend to be lower than on the seafront, and it stays lively out of season when the coast quietens.

The route is short and almost entirely motorway. From the airport you join the A-7 (Autovía del Mediterráneo) heading southwest along the coast, or the parallel AP-7 toll road when traffic is heavy. After passing Torremolinos the road climbs slightly inland and you take the Benalmádena exits. The final stretch into Arroyo de la Miel involves a few sets of traffic lights and some uphill residential streets, as the town sits above the coastal road. Expect around 25 minutes outside rush hour; the July and August coastal traffic and weekend departures can add time. Most of the journey is straightforward dual carriageway, so the only slow part is threading through the town itself to reach your street.

Many stays in Arroyo de la Miel are in apartment blocks and small aparthotels rather than large resorts, so give the exact building name, street and any urbanización name when booking — streets like Avenida de la Constitución and the roads climbing toward Benalmádena Pueblo can be one-way or pedestrianised. A door-to-door car saves you the change onto the C1 train, which does not run late at night and leaves you to carry luggage uphill from the station. If you're heading to Benalmádena Costa or Puerto Marina rather than Arroyo itself, mention it, as they're a short drive further down. For the cable car or Parque de la Paloma, ask to be dropped near Tivoli; parking there is limited in summer.
