The polo grounds, Puerto de Sotogrande marina and the beaches at Torreguadiaro and Playa de Sotogrande are a short drive down towards the coast.

The route runs almost entirely on motorway. From the airport you join the A-7 and then the AP-7 toll road, heading southwest along the coast through Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona. This corridor is fast and mostly flat to gently rolling, with sea views on the left and the Sierra Bermeja hills on the right. Traffic can bunch around Marbella at peak times, but the toll motorway usually keeps things moving. You leave the AP-7 near Sotogrande and follow local roads up into Sotogrande Alto, where the final approach climbs and winds gently past residential streets and cork woodland to reach the club and hotel. Expect roughly 80 minutes when the road is clear.

Sotogrande Alto is a large gated estate with several roads and few obvious signs, so give the driver the exact SO/ Sotogrande hotel or Almenara clubhouse name rather than just "Sotogrande" — the marina and Torreguadiaro are separate areas further down. The AP-7 tolls between Marbella and Sotogrande are worth taking to avoid the slower coastal A-7 through town centres. If you're carrying golf bags, mention this when booking so the vehicle has boot space. For early tee times, factor in Marbella rush-hour traffic and leave a buffer. Nearby Valderrama, La Reserva and San Roque Club are all within about ten minutes by car, useful if you're playing several courses on one trip. Gibraltar airport is actually closer, but Málaga offers far more flight connections.
