Private transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Algarrobo Costa
Door-to-door transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Algarrobo Costa with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Algarrobo Costa is like
Algarrobo Costa is the seafront part of Algarrobo, in the Axarquía region east of Málaga, sitting between Torre del Mar and Mezquitilla. It is a low-key resort of apartment blocks and a long grey-sand beach, popular with Spanish families and residents who spend the whole summer here rather than short-stay tourists. The inland village of Algarrobo, a few kilometres up the hillside, keeps its narrow white streets, the Ermita de San Sebastián and the Phoenician necropolis of Trayamar nearby. The surrounding hills grow avocados, mangoes and muscatel grapes. The marina at Caleta de Vélez, just west, has fishing boats and seafood restaurants (chiringuitos serving espeto sardines). Come for quiet beach days and Axarquía cooking rather than nightlife.
The drive east along the A-7
The route runs east of the airport, the opposite direction to Marbella. You skirt Málaga city on the ring roads and pick up the A-7 coastal motorway (the free autovía, not the AP-7 toll), following signs for Motril and Almería. It is dual carriageway almost the entire way, passing Rincón de la Victoria and Torre del Mar, with the Mediterranean on one side and the Axarquía hills on the other. The trip is around 45 kilometres and usually takes about 45 minutes. The final stretch leaves the motorway at the Algarrobo/Mezquitilla exit and drops down towards the seafront on shorter local roads. There is no mountain driving or winding descent; the approach to the coast is straightforward and flat once you leave the autovía.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give the exact urbanisation or apartment block name when booking: Algarrobo Costa is mostly complexes along the paseo marítimo and around the Mezquitilla end, and there is no single central address. Confirm whether your accommodation is at beach level or up in Algarrobo village, as they are separate places several kilometres apart. In July and August the seafront and the Caleta de Vélez area get busy, so allow extra time if you have a flight to catch. There is a large supermarket near the coast, useful for self-catering stays, but the village shops keep shorter hours and close for siesta. If you want restaurants and a marina within walking distance, staying near Caleta de Vélez or Torre del Mar is more convenient than the quieter Mezquitilla side.
