Private transfer from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport to Meribel-Mottaret
Door-to-door transfer from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport to Meribel-Mottaret with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Why skiers choose Meribel-Mottaret
Mottaret sits at around 1,750m, the highest village in the Méribel valley and the most snow-sure, which is why serious skiers pick it over Méribel-Centre lower down at 1,450m. It's built for ski-in, ski-out access: most residences around Le Hameau and the Chatelet and Plan des Mains sectors put you on the snow from the door. From here you're wired straight into Les Trois Vallées, with lifts linking Courchevel, Val Thorens and Les Menuires on a single pass. The crowd is predominantly winter: families in school holidays, British and Dutch chalet groups, and keen skiers who want altitude over nightlife. Summer is quieter, with hikers and mountain bikers using the valley while much of Mottaret itself winds down.
The road from Lyon up to 1,750m
The journey runs about 200km and takes roughly two and a half hours in good conditions. You spend most of it on the A43 motorway heading east past Chambéry and Albertville, which is fast and straightforward. The character changes at Moûtiers, the valley town where the motorway ends and the climb begins. From there the D915 and D90 wind up through Les Allues towards Méribel and on to Mottaret, gaining altitude with a steady run of switchbacks and tight bends. In winter this final stretch can be snow-covered, slow and busy on Saturday changeover days when thousands of ski-week guests arrive at once. The last few kilometres above Méribel-Centre climb further still, so expect the pace to drop noticeably on the approach.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give your driver your exact residence or chalet name, not just "Mottaret" — the village spreads across several levels (Le Hameau, Chatelet, the main front de neige) connected by steep internal roads and a free navette, and the right drop-off saves a long walk uphill with ski bags. Saturdays are peak changeover, so build in extra time; weekday arrivals move faster through Moûtiers. In poor weather the climb from Moûtiers may require winter tyres or chains, which a professional transfer vehicle will carry. If you land at a busy time, confirm whether your accommodation has keys available or a set check-in window. For summer visits, check that lifts and services in Mottaret are actually open, as the village operates a shorter season than Méribel-Centre.
