Private transfer from Lugano Airport to Como
Door-to-door transfer from Lugano Airport to Como with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Como offers at the southern tip of the lake
Como sits where the lake narrows into the city, so the ferry docks and Piazza Cavour are steps from the walled old town. The Duomo, Basilica di San Fedele and the Tempio Voltiano (a nod to Alessandro Volta and the local silk trade) are all within a short walk. The Como–Brunate funicular climbs to a ridge for lake views, and Villa Olmo sits along the western shore promenade. Most visitors come between April and September: day-trippers catching ferries to Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio, guests heading for Villa d'Este in nearby Cernobbio, and golfers using Circolo Golf Villa d'Este at Montorfano. The old-town streets are narrow and largely pedestrian, so vehicles drop off at the edges near the lakefront.
The drive south from Agno across the Swiss–Italian border
Lugano Airport is at Agno, west of Lugano, so the driver first works through the valley roads to reach the A2 motorway. From there the route runs south over the Melide causeway that crosses the lake, past Mendrisio, and down to the border at Chiasso. This is the crossing into Ponte Chiasso and Italy; from that point Como is only a few minutes further into the city. The whole journey is roughly 35 kilometres and around 45 minutes in normal conditions. Most of it is straightforward motorway; the slower parts are the airport approach at the start and the descent into Como's one-way lakefront streets at the end. Weekday mornings and summer weekends can add queues at the Chiasso border.
Border, currency and drop-off details worth knowing
This is a cross-border trip, so carry a passport or national ID even though checks at Chiasso are often waved through. You leave the Swiss franc zone for the euro in Como, so keep some euro cash for ferries, cafés and the funicular ticket office. Como's historic core is a limited-traffic zone (ZTL), so the practical drop-off points are around Piazza Cavour, the ferry terminals and the edges of the walls rather than deep inside the streets — tell your driver which hotel or dock you need. If you're connecting to a lake ferry, check the last departure to your village (Bellagio and Varenna services thin out in the evening and off-season), and allow a buffer for possible border queues in July and August.
