The long Atlantic beach below the cliffs pulls in families and surfers in summer. The route leaves Humberto Delgado Airport and joins the A8 motorway heading north, the main corridor towards Leiria and the Silver Coast. It is dual carriageway almost the entire way, passing Loures, Torres Vedras and the rolling farmland and vineyards inland from the coast. After roughly an hour you leave the A8 near Óbidos and drop onto local roads through Amoreira, where the final stretch narrows and winds towards the resort. The whole journey is around 90 kilometres and usually takes about 80 to 90 minutes in normal traffic. There are no mountain passes; the terrain is gentle and green. Passengers should expect a fast, straightforward motorway run followed by a short, slower approach through the village and the resort's gated entrances.

Tell the driver which part of the resort you need: Praia D'El Rey covers a wide area with separate accesses for the Marriott, the villas and the golf clubhouse, and gate security can slow arrival if the address is vague. Have your accommodation booking or villa number ready. The A8 is a toll motorway, so a private transfer avoids the hassle of Portugal's electronic toll system that catches out rental-car drivers. If you plan to explore Óbidos, Peniche or Nazaré without a car, arrange transfers in advance, as taxis are scarce around Amoreira. For summer beach days, note the walk from some accommodation down to the sand is long and cliffside; ask about the resort shuttle. Flights arriving late still work well, since the A8 is quiet after dark.
