Near the coast the driver leaves the A5 and drops into Estoril's streets, which narrow and curve as they run down toward the seafront and casino. Total distance is around 30 km and the run usually takes 35 to 45 minutes. The main variable is traffic on the 2ª Circular and the A5 at rush hour and on summer Friday afternoons, when Lisbon empties toward the coast and the journey can stretch noticeably longer.
Practical tips for this transfer
Estoril's hotels line the Avenida Marginal and the streets just above the casino, several with steep drop-offs and one-way systems, so give the exact hotel name rather than just "Estoril" to avoid circling. If you are staying near Tamariz or Monte Estoril, note the coastal railway (the Cascais line) runs right between the beach and the road, so ask the driver which side of the tracks your entrance is on. For a first evening, the casino gardens and the promenade to Cascais are walkable and floodlit. If your plans include Sintra, it is a separate trip inland rather than something on the way from the airport. Book a return pickup in advance for early flights: the A5 back into Lisbon is slow on weekday mornings, so allow extra buffer time.
