Carvoeiro is a compact former fishing village on the Lagoa coast, built around a small cove where the sand sits directly below the whitewashed old town. It draws families and couples rather than large party crowds, busiest from June to September. The cliff-top boardwalk from Praia do Carvoeiro to Algar Seco leads to the sea-carved rock formations and grottoes the area is famous for, and boat trips run to the Benagil cave nearby. Praia de Vale Centeanes and Praia do Paraíso sit a short drive along the coast. Golfers use nearby courses such as Vale da Pinta and Gramacho at Pestana Carvoeiro. The centre is small, with steep, narrow streets and limited parking, so most visitors walk once they arrive at their accommodation.

The route leaves Humberto Delgado Airport and crosses the Tagus, usually via the Ponte 25 de Abril or the Vasco da Gama bridge, before joining the A2 motorway south. Most of the journey is straightforward toll motorway through the flat cork-oak plains of the Alentejo, with long open stretches and few towns close to the road. After roughly two and a half hours you reach the Algarve and branch onto the A22 (Via do Infante) heading west, then exit toward Lagoa and Carvoeiro. The final stretch is on smaller regional roads that descend toward the coast, and the last few minutes into the village itself become noticeably narrower as you approach the seafront. Expect around two and three-quarter to three hours in normal traffic.

This is a long transfer, so it is worth planning a comfort stop; the A2 has service areas around Alcácer do Sal and Grândola where the driver can pause. Give your exact accommodation name and street, as Carvoeiro's hillside villas and resorts are spread over a wide area beyond the village centre, and some hire-only lanes are hard to reach. If you are staying in the heart of the old town, be aware the driver may not be able to reach the door and will stop at the nearest accessible point above the beach. Carry water and sun protection for the arrival, especially in summer. For late flights, the drive is quieter and faster at night. Confirm whether your golf resort, such as Pestana or Vale da Pinta, has a specific reception entrance to save time.
