You leave the motorway near Tavira and drop down toward the coast on shorter local roads to reach Cabanas. This is one of the longer transfers from Lisbon, so plan a rest and fuel stop — the service areas around Grândola and Alcácer do Sal on the A2 are the natural halfway points. If you're arriving on a late flight, note that the ferry to Ilha de Cabanas stops running in the evening, so you'll reach your accommodation on the mainland side regardless. Central Cabanas is largely pedestrian around the boardwalk, so give your driver the exact street or the name of your hotel or villa, as vehicles can only get so close.
