Capo Vaticano is a rocky promontory in the municipality of Ricadi, on the Costa degli Dei between Tropea and Nicotera. The Belvedere near the lighthouse gives a clear line of sight to the Aeolian Islands and, on good days, the cone of Stromboli. Families and beach-focused visitors fill the hamlets of San Nicolò, Santa Domenica and Brivadi from June to September, when many stay in the low-rise resort villages and residences on the headland. Tropea's old town, with its cathedral and the Santa Maria dell'Isola sanctuary, is a short drive north and a common day trip.

The route runs south for most of its length on the A2 motorway. From the airport you join the motorway near Lamezia and follow it towards Pizzo, leaving at the Pizzo/Vibo Valentia area onto the SS18 and then local roads through the Ricadi countryside. The final stretch is the part passengers notice: after the flat coastal approach the road climbs and narrows across the headland, winding through the small hamlets before dropping towards the coves. Expect roughly 65 kilometres and about an hour and ten minutes in normal conditions. In July and August the last few kilometres and the resort access lanes slow considerably, since the same narrow roads serve every beach and residence on the cape.

Confirm the exact name of your accommodation, not just "Capo Vaticano": the headland covers several hamlets (San Nicolò, Santa Domenica, Brivadi) plus scattered residences and holiday villages, and their entrances are on different lanes. Many are set back from the beaches, with steps or a shuttle down to the coves, so the address given to the driver matters. Roads are narrow and some residence approaches are unsuitable for large vehicles, which can mean a short final walk with luggage. If you plan to reach the beaches without a car, note that parking near Grotticelle and Praia i Focu is limited and fills early in high season. For late arrivals, a pre-booked transfer avoids the poorly lit final stretch and the lack of taxis at the airport at night.
