Private transfer from Kos Island International Airport to Kos
Door-to-door transfer from Kos Island International Airport to Kos with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Arriving in Kos Town
Kos Town sits at the northeastern tip of the island, wrapped around a working harbour where the Dodecanese ferries and day boats to Bodrum and Kalymnos come and go. The centre is flat and easy on foot: the castle of the Knights (Neratzia) guards the port entrance, the ancient Agora and Hippocrates Plane Tree are a short walk inland, and the Roman Casa Romana and Odeon lie just south of the old town. Bar Street around Nafklirou fills up on summer nights, while families tend to base themselves along the beachfront at Lambi, just north. The town works year-round because residents, ferry traffic and university students keep it alive well beyond the July–August peak.
The drive across the island to Kos Town
The airport sits inland near Antimachia, roughly in the middle of the island, so the transfer to Kos Town runs the length of the northeast coast. The road climbs away from the airport plateau and then follows the main island route (the Antimachia–Kos road) past Zipari and the turnoffs for Tigaki and Marmari beaches. The terrain is mostly open and gently rolling, with the mass of Mount Dikeos rising on your right for much of the way. It's a single main carriageway rather than a motorway, so pace depends on summer traffic and the occasional scooter. The final approach into town is straightforward and flat, ending near the harbour. Expect around 30 to 35 minutes in normal conditions.
Practical notes for this transfer
If your hotel is inside the old town, tell the driver in advance: several lanes around the Agora and the harbour are pedestrianised or too narrow for cars, so the drop-off may be at the nearest accessible corner with a short walk to the door. Travellers catching an onward ferry to Kalymnos, Nisyros or Bodrum should ask to be left at the main harbour rather than a hotel, and allow extra time in high season when the port area is busy. Lambi and the northern beach hotels are quicker to reach than the deep old-town streets. Late arrivals are common here because of connecting flights, so confirm your pickup and note that the airport is a fair distance from town — walking or a spontaneous taxi is not practical.
