St. Anton sits at the eastern edge of the Arlberg ski area, linked by lift to Lech, Zürs, Stuben and St. Christoph. In winter it draws serious skiers to the Valluga, Kapall and Rendl slopes, plus a hard-partying crowd for après-ski at the MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh on the way down from Galzig. The Dorfstrasse through the centre is pedestrianised, lined with hotels, sport shops and bars. Summer brings hikers and cyclists into the Verwall and Stanzertal valleys, when the resort is far quieter. It's the birthplace of the Ski Club Arlberg (1901), and the arl.rock climbing hall and museum in the old Post building reflect that history.

The route leaves Innsbruck Airport on the A12 Inntal motorway heading west, following the Inn river past Telfs and Imst for most of the way — fast, straightforward driving. Near Landeck the road becomes the S16 Arlberg Schnellstrasse, climbing into the narrower Stanzertal valley past Pians, Strengen, Flirsch and Pettneu before reaching St. Anton. The final stretch is a genuine mountain road, gaining altitude with the valley tightening around you. Total distance is around 100 km and the run takes roughly 90 minutes in clear conditions. In heavy winter weather the climb from Landeck slows considerably, and the S16 can see queues on peak Saturdays when the whole Arlberg changes over its weekly lets.

Much of St. Anton's core around the Dorfstrasse is pedestrianised, so confirm exactly where your accommodation allows vehicle access — many chalets in the Nasserein and Gastig areas are reached by side lanes rather than the main street. Give your driver the lift you'll use: Nasserein gondola for the eastern side, Galzig and Rendl bases for the centre and south. On winter changeover Saturdays, aim for an afternoon arrival to avoid the worst of the S16 traffic. Ski and boot bags should be flagged when booking so the right vehicle comes. If you're continuing to Lech or Zürs, note those are reached by a separate road over the Flexenpass, not through St. Anton itself — mention it in advance.
