It is a purpose-built resort valley, not an old town, so expect hotels and chalets rather than historic streets.

The route leaves Innsbruck Airport on the A12 inn-valley motorway, running flat and fast eastbound past Wörgl. From there the road climbs through St. Johann in Tirol and the Kitzbühel area before the Pass Thurn, a mountain pass that drops you into Mittersill in the Pinzgau. The final stretch turns north off the main valley road and climbs into the Glemmtal to reach Saalbach and then Hinterglemm. Count on roughly two hours for about 150 kilometres. Most of the journey is easy motorway or valley road, but the Pass Thurn section is winding, with gradient and switchbacks that are slower in snow. The last approach up the valley is single-road, so in peak winter weeks you may sit in slow-moving village traffic near the lifts.

Give your driver the exact village and street: Saalbach and Hinterglemm are several kilometres apart along one valley road, and many hotels sit on side lanes near specific lifts. During Saturday changeover days in winter the Glemmtal road and village centres congest, so allow extra time and don't book a tight onward connection. Much of Saalbach's core is traffic-restricted, so your drop-off may be a short walk from the door with your luggage. Winter driving here needs proper winter tyres and sometimes chains over Pass Thurn; a professional transfer handles this, but conditions can still slow the pass after heavy snow. If you land late, confirm your accommodation's check-in, as smaller chalets in the valley do not always staff a 24-hour reception. In summer, the same drive is faster without snow delays.
