Private transfer from Innsbruck Airport to Oberlech

Oberlech sits at around 1,700 metres directly above Lech am Arlberg, part of the Lech Zürs ski area in Vorarlberg. It is a small, largely car-free cluster of hotels — names like Burg Hotel, Goldener Berg and Sonnenburg — set right on the piste, so skiers can ski to the door. The crowd is mainly winter guests chasing reliable Arlberg snow, plus families who like that children can move safely between hotels without traffic. In summer it quietens into a hiking base, with trails toward the Rüfikopf and routes around the Zürsersee. Most visitors stay several nights rather than day-tripping, and the village feels more residential-resort than nightlife-driven, with après-ski concentrated down in Lech itself.

From Innsbruck Airport you head west on the A12 Inntal motorway, a fast, mostly straight run down the valley past Telfs and Imst toward Landeck. After leaving the motorway the character changes: the road climbs steadily on the B197 toward the Arlberg, through Stuben and over the Flexen Pass on the engineered Flexenstraße, a series of galleries and tunnels cut into the rock face above Zürs. The final approach into Lech is winding and, in winter, snow-covered, so expect a slower, more deliberate pace near the top. The full journey is roughly 120 kilometres and usually takes a little under two hours, longer in heavy snow or peak-weekend traffic when the Arlberg road backs up.

Oberlech itself is car-free in winter: vehicles generally cannot drive up to the hotels, and access is via the Bergbahn Oberlech cable car from Lech. Crucially, there is an underground tunnel system linking the top station to the main hotels, so your luggage is moved separately through it — tell your driver and hotel your arrival time so the transfer and lift timing line up, as the cable car runs to a schedule. Confirm with your hotel in advance whether they collect guests at the Lech valley station. In summer the road up is more open, but it is still narrow. Given the Flexen Pass and winter conditions, book a driver experienced with the Arlberg and allow buffer time for connecting flights out of Innsbruck.
