Portinatx sits at the northern tip of Ibiza in the Sant Joan de Labritja municipality, and it draws a different crowd from the island's south. The water stays calm and shallow, which is why parents with young children keep coming back each summer. The Far des Moscarter lighthouse, one of the tallest in the Balearics, marks the headland and anchors a network of pine-shaded walking trails. There's no big nightlife scene here; most visitors come for quiet mornings on the beach, boat trips, and dinner at the seafront restaurants. Peak season runs June to September, and much of the resort winds down over winter.

From Ibiza Airport the route heads around the edge of Ibiza town and picks up the C-733, the main road that runs almost the entire length of the island up to Portinatx. It's a well-surfaced two-lane road passing through inland countryside, past the village of Sant Llorenç and close to Sant Joan de Labritja. The terrain is gently hilly rather than mountainous, with farmland, pine and the odd roundabout. The final few kilometres descend toward the coast with a series of bends as the road drops down to the resort. The whole trip is roughly 38 kilometres and takes around 45 minutes in normal conditions. In July and August the last stretch near the beaches can slow with holiday traffic and people looking for parking.

Portinatx is compact but spread across several small bays, and hotel names often repeat words like S'Arenal, so give your driver the exact hotel or apartment name plus the specific cove. Some accommodation sits on steep side lanes above the beaches that larger vehicles can't fully reach, so confirm the drop-off point in advance. This is the farthest resort from the airport on Ibiza, so a pre-booked private transfer avoids a long taxi wait or two bus changes via Ibiza town. Stock up on essentials before arriving late, as shops here keep short hours outside high season. If you're flying home, allow extra time for the return: the C-733 back toward the airport can be busy on summer changeover days, particularly Saturday and Sunday mornings.
