Private transfer from Grenoble-Alpes-Isère Airport to Serre Chevalier
Door-to-door transfer from Grenoble-Alpes-Isère Airport to Serre Chevalier with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Serre Chevalier is made of
Serre Chevalier isn't a single resort but a string of villages along the Guisane valley between the Col du Lautaret and Briançon. From the pass down you pass Le Monêtier-les-Bains, known for its Les Grands Bains thermal spa, then Villeneuve-la-Salle (Serre Che 1400), Chantemerle (1350) and Briançon itself (1200), the highest town in France with its Vauban fortifications. Skiers come in winter for the linked ski area and its larch forests; in summer hikers and cyclists use the same valley for the Écrins passes and the Galibier climb. Families favour Chantemerle and Villeneuve for ski-in access, while Le Monêtier draws a quieter crowd. Knowing which village your accommodation sits in matters, because they are several kilometres apart.
The drive over the Col du Lautaret
From Grenoble-Alpes-Isère Airport you first cross the Bièvre plain on the N85, then join the A480 and A41 around Grenoble before turning up the Romanche valley on the N91. This is the long, scenic part: the road climbs past Vizille, Bourg-d'Oisans and the foot of Alpe d'Huez, then tightens through the Combe de Malaval gorges toward La Grave and its glacier views. The high point is the Col du Lautaret at over 2,000 metres, after which the road drops steadily into the Guisane valley and the Serre Chevalier villages. Expect roughly two and a half to three hours. The Lautaret stays open in winter but can require chains or short waits during snow clearing, so the final stretch feels very different from the motorway start.
Planning your transfer to the right village
Give your exact village and residence name, not just "Serre Chevalier": Le Monêtier, Villeneuve and Chantemerle each have their own turn-offs from the N91, and some apartment residences near the pistes are on pedestrian streets where the driver drops you at the nearest vehicle point. In winter, allow extra time and pack chains-friendly footwear; the Lautaret can slow traffic after fresh snow, and Saturday changeover days are the busiest. If your flight is early or delayed, note that there are no services on the high pass itself, so it's worth using the stops at Bourg-d'Oisans or Le Bourg-d'Oisans area beforehand. Summer travellers heading for Galibier cycling weeks should confirm whether that pass is open, as it closes outside the warmer months and doesn't affect the Lautaret route.
