La Plagne Villages is one of the high-altitude stations of the Grande Plagne, sitting around 2,050m directly above Plagne Centre and next to Plagne Soleil. It is a compact, mostly ski-in ski-out cluster of apartment residences, so most arrivals are winter skiers and snowboarders who want to step from their door onto the snow. The resort is part of Paradiski, linking La Plagne with Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express cable car, which draws intermediate and advanced skiers chasing mileage. Families favour it for the lift and shuttle links down to Plagne Centre's shops and ski school meeting points. Below sit the characterful lower villages — Montchavin, Les Coches, Champagny-en-Vanoise and Montalbert — but Villages itself is purpose-built, practical and snow-sure rather than old-world.

From Grenoble-Alpes-Isère Airport at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, the route runs east on the A48 towards Grenoble, then swings north on the A41 and A430 motorway past Chambéry and Albertville. Albertville marks the end of easy driving: from there the N90 becomes a fast dual-then-single carriageway climbing the Tarentaise valley through Moûtiers and Aime. The real work begins near Aime-la-Plagne, where the road leaves the valley floor and switchbacks steeply up to the altitude stations — a long series of tight hairpins gaining well over a kilometre in height. Expect roughly two and a half to three hours in good conditions. The motorway section is uneventful; the final climb is the part passengers notice, and it slows considerably on busy Saturday changeover days.

Travel with winter tyres or chains assumed — the climb above Aime is exposed and often snow-covered from December, and chain checks can occur mid-slope. Confirm which station you need: La Plagne Villages, Plagne Centre, Plagne Soleil, Bellecôte, Belle Plagne and Aime 2000 all have separate access and parking, and giving the wrong one adds time on the one-way loops up top. Vehicle access to the residences is sometimes restricted near the pedestrian ski areas, so share your exact building name and any drop-off code with the driver in advance. Saturday afternoons are the slowest window in the valley; a morning flight means a smoother climb. Stock up on groceries at the supermarkets in Aime or Macôt before the final ascent, as resort-level shops are pricier and have limited stock on arrival day.
