Glasgow Airport sits at Paisley, just off Junction 28 of the M8. The route into the city is almost entirely motorway: you join the M8 eastbound and follow it as it curves through the western suburbs, crossing the Kingston Bridge over the River Clyde on the approach to the centre. Most hotels and stations are reached from junctions 18 to 20, feeding into Charing Cross, the West End or the M8's city-centre spur. The whole run is around 14 km and usually takes 20 to 25 minutes. Traffic is the main variable: the Kingston Bridge and the stretch around Charing Cross clog during weekday rush hours (roughly 8–9am and 4.30–6pm), and match days or concerts at the Hydro can slow the final approach.

Glasgow Airport has no rail link, so a private transfer or the Airport Express bus (service 500) are the main options; a car takes you door-to-door without the change at Buchanan Bus Station. If you're staying in the West End around Byres Road or Kelvingrove, ask the driver to take the Clydeside Expressway rather than pushing through the centre — it's often quicker. For hotels in Merchant City or near Central Station, note that several streets are one-way and some are pedestrianised, so drop-offs may be a short walk from the door. Concert nights at the OVO Hydro and Old Firm match days cause road closures near the Clyde and the east end; if your arrival coincides, build in extra time. Keep an umbrella accessible — rain is frequent year-round.
