Private transfer from Geneva Airport to Tignes L'Espace Killy Savoie
Door-to-door transfer from Geneva Airport to Tignes L'Espace Killy Savoie with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Arriving in Tignes and the Espace Killy ski area
Tignes sits at around 2,100m and links with Val d'Isère to form the Espace Killy, one of the few French areas with reliable summer skiing on the Grande Motte glacier. The resort is split across several levels: Val Claret and Tignes le Lac around the frozen lake, plus Le Lavachet, Tignes les Boisses and Tignes 1800 lower down. Winter brings skiers and snowboarders who want high, snow-sure terrain from November into May; summer draws glacier skiers, mountain bikers and hikers. Most accommodation is in the purpose-built core at Le Lac and Val Claret, so tell your driver which level and building you need, as entrances are spread out and signposting between them can be confusing on arrival.
The drive up the Tarentaise valley
The route runs roughly 220km and takes about three to three and a half hours in good conditions. From Geneva you cross into France and follow motorway toward Annecy and Albertville, then join the N90 dual carriageway up the Tarentaise valley through Moûtiers and on to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. From Bourg the road climbs hard, winding up past the Lac du Chevril and the Tignes dam before the final approach into the resort. Expect fast, easy driving for most of the trip and a tighter, turning mountain road for the last 30 to 40 minutes. On winter Saturdays the Tarentaise is the busiest ski corridor in the Alps, and traffic through Moûtiers and Bourg can add significant time.
Practical tips for this transfer
Book the earliest realistic pickup on changeover Saturdays; the bottleneck through Moûtiers and Albertville can double your time otherwise. The final climb above Bourg-Saint-Maurice is subject to snow chains and occasional closures after heavy snowfall, so confirm your driver runs winter tyres. Tignes is largely pedestrianised in its upper centres, so ask to be dropped at the nearest vehicle access point to your residence and be ready to carry gear a short distance. Ski and boot bags take space, so declare them when booking. If you are heading to Val d'Isère instead, the same road serves it via the turn at the valley floor. Keep passports handy for the Switzerland-France border, though checks are usually quick.
