Private transfer from Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport to Sierra Nevada
Door-to-door transfer from Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport to Sierra Nevada with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sierra Nevada is and who goes there
Sierra Nevada is mainland Spain's highest ski resort, centred on the village of Pradollano at around 2,100m, with the lifts running up towards Borreguiles and the peaks of Veleta and Mulhacén above. From late November or December through to April the crowd is skiers and snowboarders, families on school holidays, and weekenders escaping Granada and the coast. The resort has several hotel clusters around Plaza de Andalucía, plus apartment blocks stacked up the slope. In summer the same roads bring hikers and mountain bikers heading for the high trails, and drivers touring towards Monachil, Güéjar Sierra and the Alpujarra villages. It is a purpose-built resort, not an old town, so expect ski-in access, garages and pedestrian terraces rather than historic streets.
The drive up the A-395 from the airport
The airport sits west of Granada, so the route first runs east on the A-92 and around the city on the ring road before joining the A-395, the single mountain road that climbs to the resort. The first stretch is fast dual carriageway; the change comes once you leave Granada and start gaining altitude, with steady curves and long ramps up past the 2,000m mark. The whole journey is usually a little over an hour, but it depends heavily on the season. On busy winter weekends the final climb backs up with day-trippers, and snow or ice can slow things further. You'll notice ears popping, temperatures dropping sharply, and the landscape turning from olive groves to bare high-mountain slopes as you near Pradollano.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give your driver the exact hotel or apartment name in Pradollano: the resort is spread over several levels and many buildings are only reachable by specific access roads or short walks from a drop-off point, not directly from the door. In winter, allow extra time — chains or winter tyres may be required, and the resort sometimes runs traffic controls or closes the final section during heavy snowfall. Book a vehicle sized for ski or snowboard bags, as boot space fills fast. If you arrive without warm clothing, change layers before leaving the airport, since it can be well below freezing at the top even when Granada is mild. For summer hiking trips, confirm whether your driver can drop closer to trailheads at Hoya de la Mora above the village.
