Beach bars and restaurants line the sand in summer, and the water is calm enough for swimming. It sits just across the estuary from Lagos old town, so you get quiet mornings on the beach and easy access to the marina, the historic centre and the Avenida dos Descobrimentos restaurants. Residents and long-stay visitors favour the apartments here because the train station and the pedestrian bridge into town are both within reach.

The route runs almost entirely west on the A22 (Via do Infante), the tolled motorway that crosses the Algarve inland, keeping you clear of the coastal town traffic through Albufeira and Portimão. It is an easy, mostly straight drive of around 90 kilometres, roughly an hour depending on traffic. You pass north of Portimão and Lagoa, with the low hills of the Monchique range visible to the right. Near Lagos you leave the motorway and drop down towards the coast; the final approach to Meia Praia crosses the Bensafrim estuary area and the flatter ground behind the beach. The A22 is electronically tolled with no toll booths, so charges are read from the number plate automatically — worth knowing if you ever drive it yourself.

Meia Praia is spread out, so give your driver the exact name of your apartment block, hotel or beach access rather than just "Meia Praia" — the accommodation runs for kilometres along Avenida dos Pescadores and the parallel service roads, and some blocks are only reachable from specific side streets. If you are staying near the eastern end towards the Palmares golf area, mention it, as that is a separate turn-off. The old town is across the estuary, so the beach side can feel quiet in the evening; stock up at the supermarkets near the marina if you arrive late. In peak summer the roads around Lagos and the marina bridge get congested in the afternoon, so an earlier arrival slot means a smoother final few kilometres.
