Private transfer from Faro Airport to Carvoeiro

Carvoeiro is a compact former fishing village built into cliffs west of Lagoa. Its main beach, Praia do Carvoeiro, sits right below the old town, hemmed in by ochre rock and reached from the small square where the restaurants gather. A short walk east is Algar Seco, a rock formation with sea-carved arches and pools, and the wooden boardwalk that runs along the clifftop. Families and older couples dominate here, especially in summer, drawn by calm swimming beaches like Praia do Paraíso and Praia de Vale Centeanes. Golfers come for the Gramacho and Pinta courses near Vale de Milho. Boat trips to the Benagil sea cave leave from the beach and nearby Praia de Benagil. It stays quieter and more residential than Albufeira.

The route leaves the airport, joins the A22 (Via do Infante) motorway and runs west for most of the journey, past Loulé, Boliqueime and Albufeira. It's fast, level and unremarkable inland driving, with the Monchique hills visible to the north. You exit near Lagoa and drop south on the EN125 area roads toward Carvoeiro, and this last stretch changes character: the road narrows and starts to wind as it descends through residential streets and villa complexes toward the coast. The final approach into the old town is tight, with steep, one-way streets and limited turning space around the beach square. Total driving time is usually around 45 to 55 minutes depending on traffic near Albufeira and the season, covering roughly 65 kilometres.

Many visitors don't stay in the village centre itself but in villa and apartment complexes spread across the hills around Carvoeiro — Monte Carvoeiro, Vale de Milho, Sesmarias and toward Ferragudo. These have similar names and scattered entrances, so bring the exact villa or block reference and a pin location, not just the resort name. The lanes closest to the beach square are pedestrianised or too narrow for larger vehicles, so your driver may set down at the nearest accessible point. If you're heading to Benagil for a cave tour, note it's a separate spot a few kilometres east, not in Carvoeiro itself. For late arrivals into Faro, the A22 is quiet at night and the run is quick; daytime summer arrivals can slow around the Albufeira junctions.
