The route runs almost entirely west on the A22 (Via do Infante), the toll motorway that parallels the coast. From Faro you pass north of Albufeira, Portimão and Lagoa, an easy, fast stretch of inland driving with the Monchique hills on your right. You leave the A22 near Lagos and drop onto smaller roads through Espiche and Almádena, where the landscape turns to farmland and low coastal scrub. The final approach into Burgau is the part passengers notice: the road narrows and twists downhill into the village, and the streets near the beach are tight and one-way in places, so drivers often stop at the top rather than squeeze all the way down. Total driving time is usually around an hour and a quarter.

The A22 uses electronic tolls with no toll booths, which matters if you ever self-drive, but on a private transfer this is handled for you. Give your driver the exact name of your villa or guesthouse and, ideally, the nearest cross street: many Burgau properties sit on lanes too narrow for a vehicle to reach the door, so agree a drop-off point near the top of the village and expect a short walk down. If you have heavy luggage, mention it when booking. There is no petrol station or large supermarket in Burgau itself; the nearest are around Luz and Lagos, so ask the driver to stop en route if you want supplies on arrival. Evening arrivals are straightforward as the motorway is well lit until the final village roads.
