Door-to-door transfer from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg to Zermatt - Täsch / Taesch with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Why Täsch is where road transfers to Zermatt end
Zermatt is car-free, so no road vehicle reaches the village itself. Täsch, about five kilometres down the valley, is the point where private transfers stop. You arrive at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, a large covered car park beside the station, and switch to the Zermatt Shuttle train, which runs every 20 minutes and takes roughly 12 minutes. Zermatt draws skiers from December to April to the Matterhorn slopes, and hikers and climbers in summer who use it as a base for the Gornergrat, the Hörnli hut and the Five Lakes walk. Täsch itself is small and functional, but its terminal is the hand-off point for everyone heading up to the Matterhorn village.
The drive south through Bern and the Rhône valley
The route leaves EuroAirport on the A2/A3 and runs motorway nearly the whole way, passing Bern and dropping toward the Rhône valley. Near Spiez the road threads along Lake Thun before the long Lötschberg corridor, where you either take the car-carrying train through the base tunnel or continue the longer motorway loop via the Simplon approach. You join the valley floor at Visp, then turn off onto the single mountain road up the Mattertal toward Täsch. This final stretch is winding and narrow in places, climbing steadily past St. Niklaus and Randa, with the valley tightening around you. Count on roughly three hours in normal conditions, longer in winter ski-season traffic or when the car train has queues.
Practical tips for the Täsch handover and onward train
Have your luggage ready to move quickly: at the Matterhorn Terminal you carry bags from the drop-off to the shuttle platform, and there are trolleys and porters but they can be scarce at peak arrivals. Buy the Täsch–Zermatt shuttle ticket at the machines or counter before boarding; the train is separate from any transfer booking. If you are staying at a Zermatt hotel, many offer electric taxi or electro-cart pickup from Zermatt station — arrange it in advance, as regular taxis don't exist there. In winter, allow extra time: snow can slow the Mattertal road and the terminal car park fills on Saturdays. The last convenient shuttles run late evening, so confirm timings if your flight lands after dark.
