Families and intermediate skiers favour the gentle runs toward Les Gets; stronger skiers take the Super Morzine gondola or drive up to Avoriaz. In summer it becomes a serious mountain-bike base, with the Pleney and Super Morzine lifts feeding lift-served trails, plus road cycling over the Col de Joux Plane and Col de la Ramaz. The town centre around the Place de l'Église stays busy with bakeries, bars and ski-hire shops.

The route runs almost entirely on motorway until the final climb. From EuroAirport you head south on the A36, then follow the A39 and A40 toward Geneva and the Alps, skirting Bourg-en-Bresse and crossing into Haute-Savoie. You leave the motorway around Cluses, then pick up the D902 up the Vallée du Giffre and over to Morzine, or approach via Taninges and the Col de Châtillon. The last 30 kilometres are the ones you notice: two-lane valley road with switchbacks, tunnels and the Dranse gorge below. Expect roughly three to three and a half hours in clear conditions. In winter the final stretch can be snow-covered and slow behind gritters, so build in extra time for Saturday changeover-day traffic through Cluses and Taninges.

Morzine's chalets are scattered across hamlets like Les Prodains, Montriond and the slopes above the town, and some lie on narrow lanes that large vehicles can't reach in deep snow — share your exact chalet name, road and a phone number for the keyholder before travel. Snow chains or winter tyres are standard on this route from December to March; confirm your vehicle is equipped. If you're heading on to Avoriaz, note that the resort itself is car-free and reached by the Prodains gondola from Les Prodains, so your drop-off is at the lift, not the apartment door. Flights into EuroAirport mean a longer road leg than Geneva, so an early-morning arrival is worth it to reach Morzine before afternoon valley traffic. Keep passports handy if your route crosses briefly into Swiss territory.
