Vehicles use the Flughafenstrasse and the A3 approach, crossing the border in the Swiss-exit lane rather than the French one — worth confirming your driver takes the Swiss customs channel, or you can end up in Saint-Louis, France. The route is short and almost entirely urban and motorway, no hills or winding roads. You pass through the industrial and residential districts of the northwest before reaching the Rhine. Traffic is the main variable: the stretch near Messe Basel and the river bridges slows during trade-fair weeks and weekday rush hours.
