Tisno sits on the strait between the mainland and Murter island, linked by a small bascule bridge that opens on a schedule for boats. In summer the town is best known as home to The Garden Tisno festival site, which hosts Love International, SunceBeat and Defected Croatia, drawing a young international crowd from June to September. Beyond the festivals, sailors use Tisno and nearby Murter town as a base for the Kornati archipelago, with charter boats leaving from Marina Hramina in Murter. Families come for the quieter pebble and rock beaches along the Murter coast and the neighbouring villages of Jezera and Betina. The old core has narrow stone streets and a waterfront lined with small konobas rather than large resorts.

This is a long journey, since Dubrovnik Airport at Čilipi lies far to the south and Tisno is near Šibenik. The route runs north past Dubrovnik, crosses the Pelješac Bridge to bypass the old Neum border corridor, then joins the A1 motorway near Ploče for the fastest stretch. Most of the middle of the trip is motorway driving through the Dalmatian interior, well inland from the coast. You leave the A1 around Šibenik or Pirovac and drop back toward the sea on the D8 Adriatic road before the final approach through Pirovac and across the Tisno bridge. Expect roughly four to four and a half hours in normal traffic. The last few kilometres are slower, with the bridge sometimes closed briefly for passing vessels.

Because the distance is close to 350 km, confirm your pickup with plenty of margin and expect one comfort stop on the way. If you arrive during a festival week at The Garden Tisno, tell the driver your exact accommodation, since roads around the site and the bridge can be congested with pedestrians in the evening; a daytime arrival is far smoother. For festival-goers, note that many stays are in Jezera, Betina or Murter town rather than Tisno itself, so give the village name, not just "Tisno". If you are heading straight onto a charter boat, Marina Hramina in Murter is a few minutes further than the town centre. The Pelješac Bridge means you no longer need a passport check at Neum, but keep documents handy for any spot check.
