Private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Split
Door-to-door transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Split with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Split offers when you arrive
Split is built around Diocletian's Palace, a Roman complex whose walls now hold cafés, apartments and the cathedral bell tower you can climb for a view over the harbour. The Riva promenade runs along the waterfront where ferries leave for Hvar, Brač and Vis, making Split the main jumping-off point for the central Dalmatian islands. Bačvice beach, a short walk east of the centre, is sandy and shallow and busy with families in summer, while Marjan hill above the old town has pine-shaded paths and small coves for swimming. The city fills up from June to September with island-hoppers and cruise passengers; spring and autumn are calmer and better for walking the palace lanes without crowds. The ferry port, bus station and train station all sit close together beside the Riva.
The drive north along the Dalmatian coast
The route leaves Dubrovnik Airport near Čilipi and heads north-west along the coast. Since 2022 the Pelješac Bridge lets you skip the old border crossings at Neum, so the journey now stays inside Croatia the whole way instead of passing twice through a short strip of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the bridge and the Pelješac peninsula road you join the A1 motorway near Ploče, which carries most of the drive north toward Split at an easy pace. Expect a mix of sea views, the Neretva river delta with its fruit stands and citrus fields, and inland stretches where the motorway runs below the Biokovo range. The total is roughly 230 kilometres and around three hours. The final approach into Split slows as you leave the motorway and drop through city traffic toward the waterfront.
Practical tips for this transfer
Even with the Pelješac Bridge, carry your passport and any Croatia entry documents, since the coastal route has fixed toll and checkpoint points where traffic can back up in July and August. If you have a ferry to Hvar, Brač or Vis, tell the driver your sailing time: the port is right on the Riva, but the old town core is pedestrianised and vehicles can only stop at the edge, so agree a drop-off point near the ferry terminal or bus station rather than deep in the palace lanes. The drive is long enough that a comfort stop in the Neretva valley or near Makarska is worth planning. Traffic into Split is heaviest on summer weekend afternoons when cruise and ferry arrivals overlap, so an earlier departure from the airport saves time.
