Door-to-door transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Slano with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Slano is and who goes there
Slano sits on a deep, sheltered bay northwest of Dubrovnik, on the mainland just before the Pelješac peninsula. It's a small fishing village that draws families and couples wanting a quieter base than Dubrovnik's old town, mainly from late May to September. The Admiral Grand Hotel and the marina dominate the waterfront, while a 16th-century Franciscan monastery stands near the shore. People use Slano as a launch point for Pelješac's Dingač and Postup wine villages, the oyster beds at Mali Ston, and the salt pans and walls at Ston, all a short drive further. The bay's calm water suits swimming and small boats. Out of season it's very quiet, with limited restaurants open.
The drive from the airport to Slano
Dubrovnik Airport is at Čilipi, southeast of the city, so the route runs the full length of the coast in the opposite direction. You'll first climb over the ridge above Dubrovnik, passing the viewpoint above the old town, then join the Adriatic highway (D8, the Jadranska magistrala) heading northwest. This is a two-lane coastal road that hugs the cliffs above the sea, with steady bends and open views across to the Elaphiti islands. It is not a motorway, so allow around an hour and a bit for roughly 58 kilometres. The final descent into Slano leaves the main road and drops down to the bay. Traffic on the D8 builds in July and August, and slow vehicles on the single lane can add time.
Practical tips for this transfer
Because Slano is beyond Dubrovnik, the transfer is longer than most airport runs, so agree a pickup point clearly if you're being collected on the return. Many stays here are at the Admiral Grand Hotel complex, which has more than one entrance and a long access road down to the bay — tell the driver your exact building or reception so you're not dropped at the wrong level. If you plan to explore Pelješac wineries or Ston, a transfer straight to Slano leaves you without a car, so consider booking day excursions locally or a return transfer in advance. The D8 has few large petrol stations near Slano, and the village itself has limited late-night services, so buy essentials in Dubrovnik if you arrive after evening.
