Door-to-door transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Sibenik with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sibenik is known for
Sibenik sits where the Krka river meets the sea, and its stone old town climbs steeply toward St Michael's Fortress, which now stages summer concerts. The UNESCO Cathedral of St James, built entirely in stone by Juraj Dalmatinac, anchors the centre, while the Barone and St John fortresses ring the hills above. Most visitors come in summer, families for the Solaris resort complex south of town and its beaches, and day-trippers heading to Krka National Park to see the Skradinski Buk waterfalls near Skradin. Boats from the Mandalina marina and the town quay reach the islands of Zlarin, Prvic and Krapanj. The old town is a maze of narrow stepped lanes closed to cars, quieter and less crowded than Split or Dubrovnik.
The drive north from Dubrovnik Airport
Dubrovnik Airport lies at Cilipi, southeast of the city, so the route first runs along the coastal D8 past Dubrovnik before joining the Peljesac Bridge, which since 2022 lets you bypass the Neum border crossing through Bosnia entirely — no passport stops. From there the road links to the A1 motorway near Ploce, and the rest of the journey is fast, inland motorway driving through the Dalmatian hinterland, passing tunnels and viaducts well back from the coast. You leave the A1 at the Sibenik/Vodice exit and descend toward the bay. Expect roughly three hours, most of it steady motorway cruising rather than winding coast. The final approach into Sibenik narrows as you near the old town, where vehicles cannot enter the pedestrian core, so drop-offs are made at the edge.
Planning your transfer to Sibenik
Because this is a long transfer, ask your driver about a stop at Krka National Park if that is on your itinerary — the Lozovac and Skradin entrances lie just off the motorway route, and combining the visit with the transfer saves a separate day trip. If you are staying at Solaris, tell the driver which hotel; the resort has several buildings (Ivan, Jure, Andrija, Niko) with different entrances. For the old town, note that luggage may need to be carried up steps from the drop-off point, so pack accordingly. Vodice and Primosten, popular for beaches and nightlife, are short detours off the same A1 corridor. Bring water and plan a break on a journey this length, especially with children, as motorway rest areas thin out through the mid-Dalmatian stretch.
