Private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Podgora
Door-to-door transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Podgora with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Podgora is known for
Podgora sits on the Makarska Riviera, directly below the Biokovo mountain wall and just south of Makarska town. It's a low-key beach base rather than a nightlife town, favoured by families and couples in July and August for its pebble coves and long seafront promenade. The best-known landmark is the Seagull's Wings monument (Galebova krila) on the hillside above the harbour, honouring the Yugoslav navy. There's a small marina, a handful of konobas near the waterfront, and beaches like Rokovača within walking distance. Neighbouring villages—Drašnice, Igrane and Živogošće—are strung along the same coastal strip, so many visitors car-hop between them. Hikers use Podgora as a start point for trails climbing toward Biokovo Nature Park.
The drive up the coast to Podgora
The route runs north-west from Dubrovnik Airport (Čilipi), skirting Dubrovnik and then following the Adriatic coastal road, the D8, most of the way. It's a scenic but winding drive with the sea on one side and rock and mountains on the other. Historically this route crossed the short Neum corridor through Bosnia and Herzegovina, meaning two border checks. Since the Pelješac Bridge opened, many transfers now use the bridge and the inland route to avoid Neum entirely. Expect around two and a half hours depending on the corridor chosen and summer traffic near Makarska. The final stretch drops down toward Podgora on the seafront road below Biokovo, with tight bends and steep hillside on the approach into the village and its harbour area.
Practical tips for this transfer
Bring your passport or ID card and keep it accessible: if your driver takes the Neum corridor you'll pass through Bosnian border control twice, and delays here can be significant on summer weekends. Ask in advance whether the route uses Neum or the Pelješac Bridge, as this affects timing. This is a long transfer, so plan for a comfort stop—the driver can pause near Ploče or a coastal service area. Podgora's seafront lanes are narrow and some apartments sit up steep hillside streets away from the promenade, so share your exact accommodation name and address, ideally with a pin, rather than just "Podgora". If you arrive on a late flight, note that facilities in the village close early. For onward day trips, Makarska and its Biokovo skywalk are only a short drive north.
