Omis sits where the Cetina River cuts through the coastal mountains and meets the sea, roughly 25 km south of Split. The town is squeezed between steep cliffs and the water, with a compact old town of narrow stone lanes below the Mirabela (Peovica) fortress and the higher Fortica fort, both climbable for views over the rivermouth. Velika Plaza is the long town beach; Punta is the smaller cove by the harbour. Most visitors come in summer for the Cetina gorge: rafting, zip-lining and canyoning trips launch upstream, and Radmanove Mlinice is a well-known riverside spot for lunch. The Omis Riviera stretches through Duce, Nemira, Stanici and Mimice. Klapa a cappella singers perform here through July.

Dubrovnik Airport is at Cilipi, south of the city, so the whole route runs northwest up the coast. The driver skirts Dubrovnik, then crosses the Peljesac Bridge, which lets you bypass the old Neum border strip and stay inside Croatia the whole way. From there the route joins the A1 motorway inland for the fastest, straightest section before dropping back toward the coast near Omis. The final approach follows the Adriatic road (D8) hugging the shoreline, with the sea on one side and rock face on the other, until the road threads into Omis between the cliffs. Expect around three hours in normal conditions. In July and August the coastal stretch and the town's single main road slow considerably with holiday traffic.

This is a long transfer, so treat it as a half-day. Ask the driver to stop once along the way; there are marked viewpoints and rest areas on the coastal and motorway sections. If your accommodation is in the old town, note that the historic core is largely pedestrian and its lanes are too narrow for a car; agree on a drop-off point near the harbour or riverside and expect a short walk with luggage. Many stays are actually along the Riviera in Duce or Nemira rather than central Omis, so confirm the exact address, as they add a few minutes each. If you plan a Cetina rafting trip on arrival day, allow buffer time, as afternoon slots may already be full in peak season.
