Tucepi sits on the Makarska Riviera between Makarska town and Podgora, with the grey wall of Biokovo mountain rising directly behind it. The journey now uses the Pelješac Bridge and the connecting road, which lets drivers bypass the short Neum stretch of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its border queues. After Ploče the road continues along the coastal corridor to the Makarska Riviera. The final approach passes Makarska before dropping into Tucepi, where the road narrows and the resort has several hotel entrances along the shore. Expect roughly three hours in normal conditions, longer in peak-summer traffic around Ploče and Makarska. Much of the drive hugs the sea with the Biokovo range on the inland side, so the scenery stays coastal rather than motorway for long stretches.

Even with the Pelješac Bridge, carry your passport and ID for everyone in the car, as border checks can still occur on some coastal legs. Tell the driver which hotel or apartment you need in Tucepi: the village spreads along the shore in Kraj, Podstup and Gornje Tucepi, and the seafront hotels each have their own access road off the main coastal route. If you arrive on a summer afternoon, traffic through Makarska can be slow, so an evening flight often means a smoother run. Buy any food or medicines before you settle in, as the seafront shops keep shorter hours out of season.
