Private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik
Door-to-door transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Where you're heading in Dubrovnik
Most arrivals are heading for the walled Old Town, entered through Pile Gate or Ploče Gate — the Stradun, Rector's Palace and the city walls all sit inside a car-free zone. Cruise passengers and hotel guests often stay on the Lapad peninsula or around Gruž, where the main ferry port and Jadrolinija terminal are. The Ploče side holds Banje Beach and larger hotels facing the Old Town. Summer brings walking crowds, Game of Thrones tours and boats to Lokrum island; spring and autumn suit walking the walls without the heat. Cavtat, closer to the airport, is a quieter base many families choose for its seafront promenade and easy day trips into the city.
The drive along the Adriatic Highway
Dubrovnik Airport sits at Čilipi, inland from Cavtat and southeast of the city. The route follows the D8 Adriatic Highway, a coastal road that climbs above the sea with long views over the Elaphiti islands and, on clear days, back toward the Old Town. It's roughly 22 km and usually 30–40 minutes, longer in July and August when traffic bunches near the city entrances. The final approach passes over the Franjo Tuđman Bridge above Gruž harbour before reaching the Pile and Ploče areas. If your accommodation is inside the walls, vehicles can't drive to the door — the nearest drop-off is at Pile Gate or Ploče Gate, and the last stretch is on foot down stepped lanes.
Practical tips for this transfer
Tell your driver the exact gate — Pile or Ploče — since they serve opposite ends of the Old Town and the walk between them is long with luggage. Many Old Town apartments involve steep stairs from the drop-off point, so pack light or ask ahead about the nearest access. If you're catching a ferry to Korčula, Mljet or the Elaphiti islands, note that boats leave from Gruž port, not from the Old Town harbour. Cruise arrivals also dock at Gruž. In peak summer, allow extra time both ways because the Pile roundabout and bus stops get congested. For late flights, the airport road is quiet and quick after dark, but confirm your pickup point in advance as the terminal forecourt has limited waiting space.
