Private transfer from Dalaman Airport to Kalkan
Door-to-door transfer from Dalaman Airport to Kalkan with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Kalkan is known for
Kalkan is a compact resort town built into a steep hillside above a small harbour. The old town below is a grid of narrow, sloping lanes lined with whitewashed houses, boutiques and rooftop restaurants overlooking the marina — the town is popular with couples and food-focused visitors rather than big nightlife crowds. Much of the accommodation is private villas with pools spread across the hills of Kalamar Bay and the Kişla neighbourhood. The pebbly Kalkan Beach sits in the bay, while Kaputaş Beach, in a gorge on the road toward Kaş, is a short drive east. Patara's long sand beach and Lycian ruins lie to the west. Peak season runs May to October, with July and August busiest.
The drive along the D400
The route follows the D400 coastal highway almost the whole way. Leaving Dalaman you pass through the Göcek tunnel and skirt Fethiye, then the road climbs and winds along the mountains above the Mediterranean. The final third is the most scenic and the slowest — a sequence of bends with drops toward the sea, passing the turn-offs for Patara and Kınık (ancient Xanthos) before the descent into Kalkan. Expect roughly two to two and a quarter hours for the 125 km. The last stretch into town is a steep drop from the highway down to the harbour, then into tight one-way lanes. Drivers prone to motion sickness should sit up front for the winding middle section.
Practical advice for this transfer
Kalkan's old-town lanes are steep, cobbled and often too narrow for a full-size vehicle, so many villas and hotels can only be reached on foot from a nearby drop-off point — confirm the exact access with your accommodation and be ready for a short walk with luggage, sometimes uphill. Give your driver the villa name and the bay (Kalamar, Kışla or town centre), not just a street, as addresses can be vague. Parking near the harbour is limited in summer evenings. If you're arriving late, note there are few facilities on the D400 between Fethiye and Kalkan, so pick up water and snacks at the airport. For groups with lots of bags, a larger vehicle is worth requesting given the terrain.
