Private transfer from Dalaman Airport to Datca Peninsula
Door-to-door transfer from Dalaman Airport to Datca Peninsula with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What you'll find on the Datca Peninsula
The Datca Peninsula stretches west between the Gulf of Gokova and the Gulf of Hisaronu, ending at the ancient Greek city of Knidos on Cape Tekir. Datca town is the main hub, with a small marina, seafront cafes and a Tuesday market. Uphill sits Old Datca (Eski Datca), a stone-built village with almond trees and quiet lanes. The southern coast holds calmer swimming bays: Palamutbuku with its pebble beach and fish restaurants, Ovabuku and Mesudiye. Visitors are mostly Turkish holidaymakers, sailors on gulet charters, and hikers walking sections of the Carian Trail. It stays low-key compared with Marmaris, busiest from June to September and very quiet in winter.
The drive from Dalaman to Datca
The route runs west on the D400, first through the flat farmland around Ortaca and Koycegiz, then along the wooded hills before Marmaris. After passing the Marmaris junction the road turns onto the peninsula itself, and this final stretch is the part passengers notice: a long, winding two-lane road that climbs and descends over ridges with sea views on both sides near the narrow neck at Bencik. There is no motorway on this route, so the whole journey is on single-carriageway roads. Expect roughly three to three and a half hours in total. The last hour in particular has many bends, so travellers prone to motion sickness should sit in front and carry medication.
Practical advice for this transfer
Because the peninsula road is long and slow, confirm your exact destination when booking: Datca town, Old Datca, or one of the south-coast bays like Palamutbuku or Ovabuku, which add 30-40 minutes beyond Datca centre. Fuel and shops thin out west of Datca town, so pick up water and snacks there if you're heading to Knidos or the outer villages. Book a return transfer in advance, as taxis are scarce outside the summer months and there is no direct public transport from the airport. If your flight lands late, note that the winding descent is best driven in daylight, and evening arrivals will do the final stretch in the dark. Confirm any child seats when booking.
