Helsingborg sits on the Swedish side of the Øresund, at the strait's narrowest point, looking straight across at Kronborg castle in Danish Helsingør. The centre climbs from the harbour: Stortorget runs up to the medieval Kärnan keep, and Dunkers Kulturhus and the Norra Hamnen marina line the waterfront. Sofiero Palace and its rhododendron gardens draw visitors in late spring, while Fredriksdal's open-air museum and the Ramlösa spring park suit families. The old fishing village of Råå lies just south. Many travellers use the city as a base for the Kullaberg peninsula, Mölle and the pottery town of Höganäs to the north. The ForSea ferry to Helsingør crosses in about 20 minutes, so day-trips between the two countries are common.

The route leaves Copenhagen Airport almost immediately onto the Øresund Bridge, the tunnel-and-bridge link that carries you over the strait into Sweden near Malmö. This is a tolled crossing and the only border point on the trip; passport checks on the Swedish side can add time. From Malmö you follow the E6 motorway north, skirting Lund and Landskrona through the flat farmland of Skåne, with the sea on your left for much of the way. It's dual-carriageway the entire distance, so the ride is smooth and predictable. Total driving is roughly 90 kilometres and around an hour and a quarter, depending on Malmö traffic and border delays. The final approach drops down toward Helsingborg's harbour and city centre.

Carry your passport or national ID even though this is an internal Schengen trip — Sweden runs identity checks at the bridge, and they are enforced. Sweden uses the krona, not the euro or the Danish krone, so don't assume your Copenhagen cash works in Helsingborg; card payment is universal there. Time is Swedish local from the moment you cross, so allow for the difference if you're setting appointments (both countries share the same clock, but confirm meeting times against the local city). If your final stop is in the old town near Stortorget or Kärnan, note the streets are steep and partly pedestrianised — a set-down point at the harbour or Dunkers is often easier. For Kullaberg, Mölle or Höganäs, agree the exact address in advance, as these lie beyond the city.
