Private transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Meribel-Mottaret
Door-to-door transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Meribel-Mottaret with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Meribel-Mottaret is and who goes there
Mottaret sits at around 1,750m, the highest built-up part of the Méribel valley and the most snow-sure, which is why families and keen skiers book here over the lower Méribel Centre and Méribel Village. It gives direct ski-in, ski-out access into the Three Valleys, with lifts rising towards Mont Vallon, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Courchevel without needing a car once you arrive. The resort splits into clear sectors: Le Hameau du Mottaret above the road, and the main Mottaret centre with the Plattières and Combes gondolas by the river. It's a winter-first place, busy from December to April; outside ski season most lifts and shops close, so summer visitors usually base in Méribel Centre instead.
The drive from Chambéry up the Méribel valley
The route runs on the A43 motorway most of the way, past Albertville and into the Tarentaise valley towards Moûtiers. This stretch is fast and mostly flat, following the Isère river between the mountains. At Moûtiers the motorway ends and the real climb begins: the D90 winds up through Les Allues with a long series of hairpin bends, gaining well over a thousand metres before Méribel Centre. Mottaret is the final stretch beyond the main village, so you keep climbing past Méribel's roundabouts to the top of the valley. In good conditions the whole trip is roughly an hour and three-quarters to two hours; snow, Saturday changeover traffic and chain checks above Moûtiers can add considerable time.
Practical tips for this transfer
Mottaret is largely pedestrianised and split across levels, so tell your driver the exact residence or chalet name and whether you're in the upper Hameau or the lower centre — the two are linked by a covered lift, not an easy walk with luggage. Saturday is the standard changeover day across the Three Valleys, so traffic above Moûtiers peaks mid-afternoon; an early arrival slot is smoother. Winter vehicles here carry chains or run winter tyres, which is essential on the D90 hairpins. Chambéry's flight schedule is seasonal and weather-sensitive, so build in buffer time for departures. If your flight is cancelled by fog, Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble airports are all reachable alternatives and your transfer can be rerouted accordingly.
