Private transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Les Praz De Chamonix
Door-to-door transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Les Praz De Chamonix with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Les Praz de Chamonix is known for
Les Praz sits about two kilometres up the valley from Chamonix town centre, under the Aiguilles and the Drus. Its anchor is the Flégère cable car, which climbs the sunny north side of the valley towards the Index chairlift and the start of the walk to Lac Blanc, one of the most photographed hikes in the Mont Blanc massif. The 18-hole Golf Club de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc spreads across the valley floor here in summer, and the small church with its square steeple marks the hamlet's core. In winter, skiers use Les Praz as a quieter base than central Chamonix, close to Argentière and the Grands Montets. It suits hikers, golfers and families wanting space away from the main resort.
The drive up the Arve valley
The route runs mostly on motorway. From Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc you head north towards Annecy on the A41, then join the A40 along the Arve valley past Cluses and Sallanches, where Mont Blanc comes into view on clear days. The motorway ends near Le Fayet, and the last stretch follows the D1506 as it climbs the valley through Les Houches and Chamonix. The road narrows and the gradient steepens for the final kilometres, with the valley walls closing in on both sides. Les Praz is just past Chamonix centre, so you continue a short distance along the valley road towards Argentière. Expect roughly an hour and a half, longer on winter Saturdays when ski traffic backs up around Sallanches and the Chamonix approach.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give your driver the specific address and, if you can, the name of the chalet or residence — Les Praz has clusters of chalets on narrow side lanes off the main valley road, and signage is minimal. If you are heading to the Flégère for hiking or skiing, the cable car base has a car park where a vehicle can set you down easily. Winter visitors should pack boots and warm layers in the cabin rather than the hold, as the last climb can be snowy. Saturdays in ski season are the busiest changeover days on the A40, so an earlier flight means a smoother run. Grocery options in Les Praz itself are limited; stock up in Chamonix or Sallanches on the way if your accommodation is self-catering.
