Private transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Briancon Serre Chevalier
Door-to-door transfer from Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport to Briancon Serre Chevalier with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Briançon and Serre Chevalier offer
Serre Chevalier is a long ski domain strung along the Guisane valley, made up of four base villages: Le Monêtier-les-Bains (1500), Villeneuve-la-Salle (1400), Chantemerle (1350) and Briançon itself (1200). Briançon is the highest town in France, with Vauban's walled upper town, the Cité Vauban, now UNESCO-listed and worth climbing up to even outside ski season. Winter brings skiers to the lift-linked villages; summer draws cyclists tackling the Col du Lautaret and Col du Galibier, plus hikers heading into the Écrins. Le Monêtier has thermal baths (Les Grands Bains). Each village has its own lift access and parking, so confirm which one your accommodation sits in before arrival.
The drive over the Col du Lautaret
From Chambéry the route runs on the A41 motorway down to Grenoble, then follows the A480 and N85 to the edge of the city before joining the RN91 east. From there it is a steady mountain road through Vizille and Bourg-d'Oisans (below Alpe d'Huez), then a long climb to the Col du Lautaret at 2058 m. The descent drops into the Guisane valley, passing Le Monêtier, Villeneuve and Chantemerle before reaching Briançon. Expect roughly three to three and a half hours. The first half is fast motorway; the second half is winding and climbs continuously, so travellers prone to motion sickness should sit forward and take it steadily. The scenery past Bourg-d'Oisans is the memorable part.
Practical advice for this route in winter and summer
The Lautaret is kept open through winter but can close briefly during heavy snowfall or avalanche clearing; allow buffer time if you have an evening flight. Vehicles carry winter equipment in season, but tell us your exact village and chalet address, as Serre Chevalier's bases are several kilometres apart and some chalets sit on steep, snow-covered lanes a van cannot reach the door of. In summer, the Galibier and nearby cols attract cycling events that can bring short road holds. There is no rail to Briançon from this side, so the airport road is the practical option. If you are catching the first morning flight out, plan for the descent to take longer than the map suggests on icy sections.
