Expect around 45 kilometres and roughly 55 minutes, longer in peak summer when this single coastal road carries all the beach traffic. The bends and sea views make the final stretch slow but scenic. There is no motorway on the coastal section, so a private car avoids the parking hunt at each cove along the way.

Solanas has very limited public transport: the ARST bus toward Villasimius passes on the SP17 but runs infrequently and stops on the main road, not at individual houses, so a direct transfer is far more practical with luggage. Give your driver the exact name of your campsite, villa or the specific beach access point, since properties are spread along the road and side lanes rather than clustered in a centre. In July and August allow extra time for coastal traffic, especially late afternoon when beachgoers head back to Cagliari. Shops and services are minimal, so stock up before arrival if you land late.
