Santa Margherita di Pula is a resort strip on Sardinia's southwest coast, spread along the SS195 with a long stretch of sandy beach backed by pine and eucalyptus. It's best known for the Forte Village complex, which draws families and package guests through summer, and for the Is Molas golf course inland, a year-round draw for golfers. The nearby town of Pula has the archaeological site of Nora, a Roman and Punic settlement on a small headland with a theatre and mosaics. Many arrivals here are staying at gated resorts with multiple entrances, or renting villas among the pines. Peak season runs June to September; spring and autumn suit golfers and those visiting Nora without the crowds.

The route leaves Cagliari Elmas and joins the SS195 Sulcitana heading southwest, roughly 40 km that usually takes about 45 minutes. It's a mostly flat coastal road, not a motorway, with sections of dual and single carriageway. You'll pass Sarroch, where the large Saras oil refinery is visible from the road, then Villa San Pietro and Pula before reaching Santa Margherita. The final approach runs along the low coastal plain rather than through mountains, so there are no tight hairpins. Traffic can build near Pula and around the resort entrances on summer changeover days, particularly Saturdays. The last stretch involves turning off the main road into the resort access lanes, which are well signed but numerous.

Tell your driver the exact resort or villa name, not just "Santa Margherita," because the strip has several separate gated entrances and villa clusters spread over a few kilometres; the wrong gate can mean a long walk. Forte Village in particular has controlled access, so confirming your building or reception point helps. There is little in the way of public transport late at night, and taxis are scarce this far from Cagliari, so a booked transfer is the practical option for early or late flights. If you plan to visit Nora or Pula town during your stay, note they are a short hop from the beach strip but not walkable from most resorts. Carry sun protection and water for summer arrivals, as check-in queues at resorts can be slow midday.
