Private transfer from Cagliari Elmas Airport to Orosei
Door-to-door transfer from Cagliari Elmas Airport to Orosei with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Orosei is known for
Orosei sits at the northern edge of the Gulf of Orosei on Sardinia's east coast, where the Cedrino river reaches the sea. The old town centres on Piazza del Popolo, with the church of San Giacomo Maggiore and the old prison building, and its lanes are narrow and often one-way. Most visitors come in summer for the beaches: the marina at Su Barone and Osalla, Cala Ginepro and Cala Liberotto to the north, Berchida further up, and the pine-backed coves of the Bidderosa reserve. Families and returning holiday-home owners dominate July and August, while hikers and divers use Orosei as a base for the limestone cliffs and coves further south around Cala Gonone. Spring and early autumn are quieter, with mild weather and open beaches.
The drive up the east of Sardinia
The route runs almost entirely on main roads. From Cagliari Elmas you join the SS131 Carlo Felice heading north across the inland plains, then branch onto the SS131 DCN toward Nuoro and Olbia through more rolling, hilly country. The final stretch follows the SS129 east, descending toward the coast and crossing the Cedrino before reaching Orosei. It covers roughly 185 kilometres and takes about two and a half hours in normal conditions. The driving is mostly fast dual and single carriageway rather than tight mountain roads, though the last approach through Orosei's town streets and out to the beach resorts is slower. In peak summer, expect delays on the SS131 near Cagliari and on the final coastal turn-offs toward the marina and Cala Liberotto.
Practical tips for this transfer
Because it is a long inland run, agree the exact drop-off before you travel: Orosei town, the marina at Su Barone, or one of the northern resort clusters at Sos Alinos, Cala Liberotto or Cala Ginepro, which are several kilometres apart. If your accommodation is inside the old town, note that vehicles cannot always reach the door through the narrow lanes, so ask where the driver can stop. The Bidderosa reserve limits daily car entries and requires booking in high season, so plan any visit there separately rather than as a transfer stop. Bring water and anything children need, as there are long stretches on the SS131 with few services. For early flights back, remember the return to Cagliari also takes around two and a half hours, so schedule pickup accordingly.
