Private transfer from Brindisi Airport to Lecce
Door-to-door transfer from Brindisi Airport to Lecce with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Lecce offers when you arrive
Lecce is the baroque capital of the Salento, built almost entirely from soft golden pietra leccese that carvers worked into the facades you see around Piazza del Duomo and the Basilica di Santa Croce. The centre folds around Piazza Sant'Oronzo, where a Roman amphitheatre sits half-excavated below street level. Visitors come year-round: culture travellers and couples for the churches and courtyards, families in summer heading out to the sandy Ionian beaches near Gallipoli or the Adriatic coves at San Cataldo, Lecce's own marina about 12 km east. The old town has good aperitivo bars around Via Umberto I and pasticcerie selling pasticciotto, the local custard tart. Autumn and spring suit walking the centre; July and August fill it with beach-bound day-trippers.
The drive down the SS613
The route runs almost entirely on the SS613, the free dual carriageway linking Brindisi and Lecce. From the airport you join it heading south and the drive is flat throughout, crossing the low inland plain of the Salento with olive groves, dry-stone walls and the occasional masseria farmhouse on either side. There are no hills, tolls or tunnels, and traffic is usually light outside summer weekends. The journey is short — roughly 40 km and about 40 minutes to the edge of Lecce. The last stretch leaves the superstrada for the city ring roads, then narrows quickly as you approach the historic centre. Expect the final few hundred metres to slow to walking pace among one-way lanes and pedestrians once you're near the baroque core.
Practical notes for arriving in central Lecce
Lecce's historic centre is a ZTL (limited traffic zone) monitored by cameras, so cars cannot drive up to most old-town addresses. Tell your driver the exact hotel or B&B and its nearest permitted drop-off point; many properties sit inside the ZTL and the closest legal stop may be a square or gate such as Porta Napoli or Piazza Mazzini, with a short walk over uneven stone paving after that. Pack accordingly if you have heavy luggage. If you're continuing to the coast — San Cataldo, Torre Chianca or further to Otranto and Gallipoli — it's worth arranging that leg in advance, as taxis are scarce once you're out of the centre. The airport itself is small, so meeting your driver in arrivals is quick even after a delayed flight.
