Private transfer from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport to Biarritz
Door-to-door transfer from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport to Biarritz with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Why people travel to Biarritz
Biarritz sits on the Basque coast where surfers, families and golfers overlap. The Grande Plage draws swimmers and sunbathers in July and August, while the Côte des Basques is the historic surf break where lessons run through the season. The old fishing area around Port des Pêcheurs and the Rocher de la Vierge, reached by a footbridge, are the classic walking spots. Golfers head for the Golf de Biarritz Le Phare or nearby courses at Ilbarritz and Chiberta. The Halles market keeps a strong local food scene year-round, and neighbouring Anglet and Bidart extend the beaches to the south. Autumn brings quieter surf conditions and a milder climate, making it popular well beyond the summer peak.
The A63 drive down the coast
The route runs almost entirely on motorway. From Bordeaux-Mérignac you join the A630 ring road and then the A63 heading south through the Landes forest — a long, flat, straight corridor of pine woods with few landmarks, so the middle of the trip is uneventful. The road is a toll motorway, and traffic can build near Bayonne and the coastal exits in peak summer. Approaching Biarritz you leave the A63 for the town's own exits; the final stretch becomes local roads that get narrower and busier near the seafront and the streets around the Grande Plage. Expect roughly two hours in normal conditions, longer on summer Saturdays when the whole coast is changing over between rentals.
Practical tips for this transfer
Central Biarritz has narrow one-way streets and limited stopping near the Grande Plage and the old town, so give your driver the exact hotel address and, if possible, a nearby cross street — some seafront hotels are easier to reach from the back rather than the promenade. If you are staying in Anglet, Bidart or Guéthary, note the specific town, as they sit off different A63 exits. Surfboards and golf bags are common on this route but need to be flagged when booking so the right vehicle is sent. For early flights back to Bordeaux, allow extra time on summer weekends when the Landes corridor slows. Biarritz also has its own smaller airport nearby, so confirm you actually want the Bordeaux transfer.
