Private transfer from Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport to Ravenna
Door-to-door transfer from Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport to Ravenna with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Why people travel to Ravenna
Ravenna draws visitors for its Byzantine mosaics, protected as UNESCO sites: the Basilica di San Vitale, the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia, the Battistero Neoniano and Sant'Apollinare Nuovo in the centre, plus Sant'Apollinare in Classe just south of town. Literary travellers come for Dante's tomb near the Basilica di San Francesco. Piazza del Popolo is the compact hub for cafés and evening walks. In summer, families and Bolognese day-trippers head to the Adriatic lidos east of the city — Marina di Ravenna, Punta Marina, Lido Adriano and Lido di Classe — backed by the Pineta di Classe pine forest. Ravenna also handles a large commercial and cruise port, so some arrivals are business or ferry-related rather than tourism.
The drive from Bologna Airport to Ravenna
The route is motorway for almost its entire length and takes roughly 75 to 90 minutes depending on traffic and your exact drop-off. From the airport you connect to the A14 towards Ancona, then follow the E45/SS16 spur signed for Ravenna. The terrain is flat Po Valley farmland the whole way — no mountains or winding sections — so it's an easy, predictable run. The final approach into Ravenna is on ordinary city roads rather than motorway. If you're going to one of the lidos instead of the centre, the driver continues east past the city towards the coast, adding around fifteen to twenty minutes. Summer weekends can slow the coastal stretch as beach traffic builds up.
Practical tips for this transfer
Ravenna's historic centre has a large limited-traffic zone (ZTL), so cars can't reach the mosaics or Piazza del Popolo directly; your driver will drop you at the nearest permitted point, usually a short walk from the sights. Give the exact name of your hotel or beach establishment when booking, since the lidos are spread over several kilometres and "Marina di Ravenna" and "Lido Adriano" are different stops. If you're catching a cruise or ferry, specify the port terminal — the commercial docks are north of the centre. For visiting Sant'Apollinare in Classe, note it's a few kilometres south of the city, not in the old town, so plan it as a separate stop.
