Private transfer from Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport to Ostuni
Door-to-door transfer from Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport to Ostuni with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Ostuni, the White City above the olive plain
Ostuni sits on three hills about 8 km inland, its whitewashed old town wrapped around the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta with its rose window. The historic centre is a maze of stepped lanes, arches and lime-washed houses; cars stop at Piazza della Libertà, where the Sant'Oronzo obelisk stands, and most visitors continue on foot. Below the town stretch centuries-old olive groves running down to the coast. Summer visitors head to the Marina di Ostuni beaches around Rosa Marina, Villanova, Torre Pozzelle and Costa Merlata, with the Torre Guaceto reserve just north near Carovigno. Come for the food, the July and August evenings in the piazzas, and easy trips to Cisternino, Locorotondo and the trulli of the Valle d'Itria.
The drive south along the SS16 Adriatica
The route leaves the airport on the north side of Bari and joins the SS16 Adriatica, the dual-carriageway that follows the coast southeast. It's fast, flat driving past Mola di Bari, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli and Fasano, with the Adriatic often visible on the left and olive country on the right. After roughly an hour you take the Ostuni exit and climb inland on the SP21 towards the town. The final few kilometres rise gently through olive groves, and the white houses appear on the hill ahead. If your accommodation is in the old town, expect the driver to stop near Piazza della Libertà, as vehicles can't reach the narrow upper lanes. Coastal resort drop-offs continue along smaller roads toward the marina.
Practical notes for arriving in Ostuni
Tell the driver in advance whether you're staying in the old town or at the coast — they are two very different destinations. Old-town masserie and B&Bs often mean a short walk uphill with luggage over cobbles, so pack accordingly and wear flat shoes. If you land in July or August, the Rosa Marina and Villanova roads and beach parking fill up, so an evening arrival is smoother. Ostuni's own railway station is about 2.5 km below the town in Marina area, useful to know if you plan day trips to Bari or Lecce. Stock up at supermarkets on the lower approach roads rather than in the centre, where shops are small. Confirm a pickup point for departure, since the piazza has limited waiting space in high season.
