The compact old town spreads behind the Chiesa Matrice di San Nicola, with narrow lanes opening onto the seafront. It is mostly dual carriageway and flat coastal plain, passing the outskirts of Bari, Torre a Mare and Cozze before the turn-off into Mola. Expect roughly 35 to 40 minutes in normal traffic, longer at the summer weekend peaks when the SS16 backs up around the Bari exits. The final approach leaves the main road and drops through residential streets towards the port, where the lanes near the old town and seafront become tight and one-way. Drivers usually set down close to the harbour or the castle rather than inside the historic core.

If your accommodation is inside the old town near the Chiesa Matrice or the castle, share the exact address and any pedestrian-zone details in advance, as several central streets are closed to cars and the driver may need to stop at the nearest accessible point. The morning fish market and quay are busiest early, so an arrival before mid-morning is easier for drop-off near the port. Mola has a railway station on the Bari–Lecce line if you plan onward trips to Polignano a Mare or Monopoli, but it sits back from the seafront, so a direct transfer to your lodging saves the walk with luggage. For summer evenings, book the return pickup ahead, since taxis are scarce once restaurants fill along the waterfront.
