The route runs almost entirely on motorway. From Barcelona-El Prat you join the AP-7 heading north past Girona, then leave it near the Costa Brava exits and follow the C-31 and C-66 corridor towards Palafrugell. Expect roughly 100 minutes and about 135 kilometres in normal traffic. The long central section is fast and flat through inland Girona countryside; the character changes only in the last 15 minutes, when the road drops through Palafrugell and winds down towards the coast on narrower local streets. The final descent into Llafranc itself is tight and steep in places, with one-way sections near the seafront, so the last part of the journey is noticeably slower than the motorway that precedes it.

Give your driver the exact street and apartment name in Llafranc, not just the village: the seafront is largely pedestrian in summer and many houses sit on steep lanes above the bay where vehicles cannot pass. If you are staying in one of the hillside villas near the Sant Sebastià road, mention it, as the approach differs from the beachfront. In July and August the descent through Palafrugell and Calella can be congested in the late afternoon, so an earlier arrival slot moves faster. There is no direct train to Llafranc; the nearest rail is at Flaçà or Girona, which makes a door-to-door car the practical choice. If you plan day trips to Begur or Tamariu, a private transfer avoids the very limited coastal parking.
